Is Baccarat a Difficult Casino Game?
Baccarat is probably the easiest game you can find in a casino, that
is the reason it rapidly became the beginners favorite. If we want to
categorize the casino games, baccarat surely enters the category of
luck based games. This means that all you have to do is read the rules
and you can play! In this article I will present the basic
rules of baccarat, so you can learn
it easily.
When The rules might look confusing when you read them, but as soon as
you start playing you will realize that the game is very simple. First
of all you need to know the value of the cards: the cards from 2 to 9
worth face value, the face cards and the tens worth 0 and Aces worth 1
point, the suit of the card is not important. The goal of the game is
to achieve 9 points. This can be done if you have an 8 and an Ace, a 7
and a 2 and so on. The bets can be made on the player's hand or on the
banker's hand. There are three basic types of baccarat, I will present
their rules, although they are alike, the three types are not exactly
the same.
The first type is named Punto banco or American Baccarat. American
baccarat is played with eight or six decks of cards, and the players
have to bet before the hands are dealt. The rules of American baccarat
are the following: the gamblers play against a croupier, so there is a
casino employee who handles the cards at first. He shuffles the decks
and places them in the shoe, than gives the shoe to the player on his
right. This player will become the banker(until he is winning), but if
he does not want to deal, he might pass the shoe to the next player.
The main goal here (as it is in every other type of baccarat) is to
achieve 9 points for the player, and for the others the goal is to bet
on the one who will get 9 points. The croupier deals four cards: two
to the player and two to the bank. Usually two or three cards are
dealt in a game. In the American type when the player has 5 points, he
can not stand, he automatically receives another card. Bets can be
made on the bank, on the player hand and on a tie.
Another type of baccarat is European baccarat, which differs only
slightly from the American type: the player has the right to stop at 5
points, he is not automatically dealt another card, and the banker has
the same option. Although it is not a big difference, it is important
for you to know, since you can easily lose if you do not know the
rules.
The Chemin de Fer variation of baccarat is played in Europe, mostly
French casinos(hence the name). The main difference from the other two
types above is that you can not only bet on the player or the banker,
you have to be one of them. Of course, there is a casino employee, who
will make sure that you are playing by the rules, but that is all he
has to do. Here the shoe with the cards moves counterclockwise, so
that every player can play the role of the bank.
The last variation of baccarat is Baccarat en Banque, this is mostly

is much easier because you can not be the dealer, in this case there
is always a virtual dealer. So all you have to do is bet on the
winning hand. But which hand will win? The most common baccarat
strategy is to bet on the bank hand, this is the safest. Although most
casinos take a 5% fee when the bank wins, betting on the bank hand is
the most profitable for every player. Let's see the numbers: betting
on the bank hand gives a house edge of 1,17%, betting on a player's
hand gives a house edge of 1.36% and betting on a tie gives a house
edge of 14.12%. Because the bank wins more often, it is more
profitable to bet on the bank than to bet on any other hand.
You might ask what is the difference between
online baccarat and baccarat played
in land based casinos. Almost nothing. You can find several types of
baccarat in an online casino, there is mini baccarat, when you play
against the dealer, or you can play multi player baccarat, here you
join others in the game. There is another chance for you: you can play
single deck baccarat, here the odds are betters if you bet on the bank
hand. When you chose an online casino to play baccarat, chose one
where you can play with a lower number of decks and where the casino
takes less than 5% in case of banker bets.
